WOODMANN TREES

Woodmann Trees (formerly AW & Mrs K-M Dinesen T/A Woodmann Trees) grows Abies Nordmannianna – more commonly known as Nordmann Fir, and Norway Spruce.

The Christmas trees are continually managed throughout the year being shaped and pruned to get the finished saleable product.  They are kept free from weed competition and fungal infection.  All this work aims to produce a quality Christmas tree.

Starting in early August the trees are marked for height and quality by a small group of experienced staff.  

To be assured of freshness, we begin harvesting the trees from the middle of November onwards.  They are netted in the field, picked up and loaded onto tractors and trailers and are brought back to the yard where the trees are sorted by label colour prior to being palletised.  We are able to harvest and process around 4,000 trees per day.

The trees are counted onto pallets using a specially developed palletiser, tied down and labelled ready to deliver to our retail customers nationwide.  

The trees carry our own “Woodmann Tree” trademark label as a quality guarantee.

We are keen to encourage the sale of freshly cut trees and aim to be flexible with our delivery service to meet our customers’ requirements.  Large trees must be ordered early as there is only a limited supply, these are specifically cut to order.

Following each Christmas Tree Harvest in November and December, we clear and prepare the plantations ready to plant the next crop of Christmas trees in the following Spring.  We re-plant approximately 70,000 – 80,000 trees each year.  We are very conscious to produce a sustainable crop whilst being as eco-friendly as possible and keeping our carbon footprint to a minimum.

Unlike a lot of our competitors, we measure our Nordmann Fir trees traditionally from the base to where the top whirl folds up to the leader up to 10ft.  For trees 10ft and above we measure from base to tip.
